CSW68 SISEAP Delegates Information
Do you want to get involved with Soroptimist International and the United Nations? Did you know that as a Soroptimists you are able to nominate for attendance at the Commission of the Status of Women (CSW).
CSW is the place to build consensus and commitment on policy actions to participate in workshops, forums and mix with over 6000 women from around the world.
Soroptimist International of South East Asia Pacific announce that nominations are open for Soroptimsts from the Federation of South East Asia Pacific to nominate for the one (1) paid delegate position and a selected number of self funded positions.
The sixty-eighth session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68) will take place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 11 to 22 March 2024. Each year there is a Priority Theme and a Review Theme.
Priority theme: Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective
Review theme: Social protection systems, access to public services and sustainable infrastructure for gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls (agreed conclusions of the sixty-third session)

Soroptimist International Role
- SI has General Consultative Status with ECOSOC
- SI Europe, SI Great Britain and Ireland and SI South East Asia Pacific have Special Consultative Status with ECOSOC
- Consultative Status allows attendance at the higher level forums and the opportunity to address the governments in attendance
- SI also takes an active role in the side events. Panels on a particular theme enable us to share examples of our work.
- Attendance raises the visibility of SI, its mission and programme of service
- Soroptimists attending help to make our United Nations connection very tangible and significant

Fully paid Scholarship
The scholarship will cover the delegates costs for economy class travel, transfers and accommodation. Accommodation will be booked by SISEAP. and will be shared accomodation. All other costs, including attending the Consultation Day, will be at the Soroptimista expense. You will be required to write a report for SISEAP and provide regular media coverage whilst attending CSW. For more information read the CSW Cover Page. (see link below)
Self Funded Scholarship.
These scholarships provide a select number of Soroptimists with the opportunity to be a SISEAP Delegate at CSW, you will be able to access passes to the UN, workshops and events. You will be responsible for all your costs, travel costs, transfers, visas and accomodation. But you will have the most fantastic time. Please read all supporting documents and complete the nomination form.
