Recognising Coercive Control Online Toolkit

#somethingdoesntfeelright

Daphne White, an educator and consultant from Geraldton, WA, was the recipient of the 2021 Stella Giles Award for Achievement, an initiative by Soroptimist International of Western Australia.  Daphne used the funding from this award to develop a free “Recognising Coercive Control” online toolkit that individuals or organisations can use to raise awareness of domestic and family violence and coercive control. Practitioners can also use it to share information with clients to help them identify patterns of tactics and behaviours of abuse or for education in secondary schools.

The toolkit launched on 30th November 2022, on Day 6 of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence.

International Day of the Girl Child is an annual and internationally recognized observance on October 11 that empowers girls and amplifies their voices.

Like its adult version, International Women’s Day celebrated on March 8, International Day of the Girl Child acknowledges the importance, power, and potential of adolescent girls by encouraging the opening up of more opportunities for them.

At the same time, this day is designated to eliminate gender-based challenges that little girls face around the world, including child marriages, poor learning opportunities, violence, and discrimination.

It incorporates the Rights of the Child, 2011 recognition of Girls and 75th anniversary of Human Rights Declaration

Day of the Girl Child 2023 Toolkit

Advocacy tools such as you will find in this toolkit, provide you with the information to raise awareness and change attitudes to the rights of a girl child, So that they may make their way in a world which embraces equality.  We must amplify our voices, so that our younger women do not experience the bias, bullying, blocked opportunities, lack of support and education often denied to girls.
We know that education is the pathway forward to bring equality and opportunities into the lives of younger women. I urge you all to use your voice to amplify and address the challenges faced by girls.

This toolkit is designed to provide you with the tools required to successfully create that change.

Our Voice for Change.
